TADs
Looking for a Rhode Island Board-Certified Orthodontist?
What Are TADs?
A TAD (temporary anchorage device) is a miniature titanium-alloy screw that's positioned in the mouth to serve as an anchor for moving teeth in a controlled and predictable way. TADs have revolutionized orthodontic treatment and allow for an entirely new way of shifting teeth and correcting bites. TADs are used to eliminate cumbersome appliances, including headgear.
Usages for TADs
Some of the reasons we may utilize TADs include, but aren't limited to, the following:
- Traditional malocclusions in need of anchorage
- Pre-prosthetic tooth movement
- Molar uprighting
- Dental space closing
- Intrusion of super-erupted teeth
- Elimination of the need for headgear or other orthodontic appliances
- Avoidance of future surgery
- Reduction of treatment time or cost
