Check out these tips for staying on track with your clear aligners with your busy lifestyle. We want to help keep you motivated and on track to get the beautiful smile you deserve.

Wear Your Aligners

It may seem obvious, but the best way to get the results you’re looking for is to wear your clear aligners. Just like a seatbelt, if you’re not wearing it, it doesn’t work! Consistent wear time of 22 hours per day is recommended by Dr. Eves. There are free apps available to help you with wearing and switching your aligners. We recommend TrayMinder, which is available for iPhone and Android.

Keep up with Good Hygiene

This means brushing at least twice a day, and flossing regularly as well. Before you eat or drink anything besides water, you should remove your aligners and rinse them with room temperature water and place them in your aligner case. When you are finished eating and drinking, rinse or brush before replacing your aligners. This is important for two reasons: the first is so that your aligners don’t become discolored or stained; the second reason is to keep your teeth and mouth healthy. Clean aligners and clean teeth will keep your mouth healthy throughout your orthodontic treatment.

Keep Your Regular Appointments

Dr. Eves is here to monitor and adjust your orthodontic treatment at regular intervals throughout your time in aligners. Plus, we love seeing you! Dr. Eves and our trained clinical staff are here to answer questions, check and confirm the fit of your aligners, and help guide you through your treatment.

Continue Seeing Your General Dentist
Your dentist and dental hygienist are pros when it comes to your dental health. It is especially important to keep up with regular visits to your dentist throughout your treatment. They are able to clean your teeth even with your orthodontic attachments and buttons on your teeth.

Wear Your Retainers
When you finish your treatment, retainers are key. You worked hard for that beautiful smile! Keep it perfect with consistent retainer wear, and you will have straight teeth for the rest of your life. Dr. Eves usually recommends full-time retainer wear for 8 weeks, and after that you can wear your retainers at nighttime only, while you are sleeping.
